In The Footsteps of Lawrence

“If you think an adventure is dangerous, try routine. It’s lethal”. - Anonymous

Located east of Israel, south of Syria and north of Saudi Arabia, you would think that Jordan would be a dangerous place to travel to.  But in fact, Jordan is one of the safest countries in the Middle East.

Containing many wonderful places to visit, we plan on seeing as many as possible in the two weeks we will be here.  Of course, the most famous place in Jordan is the magnificent red rose ancient city of Petra, founded by the enigmatic Nabateans.  But there is also the lowest place on earth, the Dead Sea, crusader castles all over, the Roman city of Jerash, wonderful Byzantine churches with marvelous mosaics, the capitol of Amman, and the incredible desert of Wadi Rum.

El Kahzneh, or the Treasury of Petra...

Wadi Rum...

Jerash...

Dead Sea...

So there is a lot of history here, from ancient cities built thousands of years ago until more recently, when T.E. Lawrence, 'Lawrence of Arabia', fought here during World War 1.  It was in Wadi Rum where he stayed and then took his Bedouin army to Aqaba.

So as always, you are invited to come on along on our adventure to Jordan as we continue our search for the world's most beautiful, tasty, friendly, colorful and interesting corners of the world.
